Strange Conversation with a Tweetdeck Rep

File this one in the looney bin if you will but as I was sitting here today catching up on some email and what not from the Twitter-verse, an acquaintance had tweeted the following and I re-tweeted that I agreed.

Sounds innocent enough doesn’t it? I agreed to something someone else said. Happens all the time to all of us when topics discussed are agreed on. To be honest, I had used Tweetdeck previously due to it’s new feature of scheduled updates. I kind of liked the idea of being able to schedule a handful, set their times to be broadcast, where to broadcast them and then be on my merry way with other tasks at hand. Except it didn’t quite work out that way. Read more of this post

Learned a Lesson Today

Sounds kind of ominous doesn’t it? It’s not really. Take my word for it, it was just one of those golden opportunities that comes along every once in a while that you just grab a hold of. It came along today and I took full advantage. Read on to see why.

My wife had some minor outpatient surgery today (that went very well, thank you) and I had brought along my new netbook to see how well it would do. I learned a good bit about it today too in a short time but that’s not the reason for me writing this piece here. I’m writing this because of what happened during the time I didn’t have internet access. My ‘down time’ so to speak.

While I was waiting in her room for her return and with no internet access, I decided to peruse the many pdf files I had loaded in the new netbook from one of my backups and came across one I had forgotten about. The Ubuntu Pocket Guide written by Keir Thomas. I had downloaded it a while back with the full intention of reading it but, as is with all my grand plans of late…I forgot. Score one for the ‘ol memory again. ;) Read more of this post

BP, the oil spill and whiny vacationers

What I hear lately is people complaining about not being able to go to their beloved beaches for who knows how long. The vacationers who are whining left and right, wringing their hands in anguish over a possible lost vacation on the beach because of the oil spill.

What about the sea life people? The animals that live in and around the Gulf have no where to go for vacation while BP & company continues their lame attempts to stop the leak. What about the birds whose primary habitat is on or near the Gulf? Think they can just take time off and fly somewhere else until this mess is gone? NO!

If you want to complain about the beaches getting tarnished and your vacations getting ruined, fine. Personally,I think it’s selfish of you because the wildlife has no where to turn except us.  Most likely, every one of them will die as a result of the oil spill if we don’t step up and do our part to help them.

Spending a week helping to clean up your beloved beaches would do more good than just wringing your hands over it. Helping to save a poor animal’s life that otherwise would probably die from being exposed to the oil would be a blessing. Read more of this post
